Student selections, which are random, will begin for the Suntrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes on October 30, 2015. The sweepstakes is open to seniors. The Disability History Contest Committee is proud to announce the 2015 Disability History Essay Contest in West Virginia. This contest is designed to provide you an opportunity to showcase your writing skills, share what you have learned about the Disability Rights Movement, use your ability to form and express opinions and perhaps to earn some money to help you into your future! All high school seniors are invited to submit an entry. Contest rules are located on the bottom of the entry form. All entries must include the completed entry form and must comply with all contest rules. The essay topic is: “How have the first 25 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act changed America?” Contestants can win up to $2,000. All entries must be postmarked, faxed or emailed by October 31, 2015.

This scholarship sweepstakes opens on September 15th. Two winners will be randomly chosen every two weeks from October 31st to May 15th. Seniors may enter once every two weeks for a $500 scholarship. The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program rewards students who possess the character to succeed in life. The program desires to help students overcome the financial barriers of pursuing higher education. Applicants must be high school seniors with a 2.0 GPA or higher that demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income). Applicants should exhibit a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor's degree. They should be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, and they must display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Scholarship recipients can receive up to $22,000 for college. The application deadline is October 25th. To learn more and apply, visit www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.
The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program is looking for all types of high-achieving seniors who participate in a wide range of sports and school and community activities. Applicants must have a GPA at or above 3.0 and participate in at least one school sponsored sport. They must also be a leader in school and in the community and serve as a role model for underclassman. Finalists will participate in a Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City that will air on ESPN2. Winners at each level will receive Wendy's gift cards. Finalists will win money for James Monroe High School. Applications must be submitted by October 3rd.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered for this scholarship. Students can receive up to $20,000. The deadline for this application is October 31st. Click here to apply.
The Students of Excellence Scholarship program is for students who are residents of West Virginia. Through the EQT program, students can earn a one time $1,000 scholarship. Also, three students will be selected for a renewable scholarship of up to $18,000 per year!!!! Check here for more information.
